A former lawmaker, who represented Ogbaru Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon Afam Ogene, has cried out over the devastating effect of flood in the area.

Ogene, a candidate of the Labour Party (LP) for House of Representatives in the 2023 election, said the area has been submerged by flood.

In a press release made available to Track News , the former lawmaker called on the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), to intervene and rescue Ogbaru people from the disaster.

He said, “The human and environmental conditions here are absolutely pathetic and require urgent action from the government in order to alleviate the sufferings of the despondent victims, most of whom have lost all their belongings to the flood disaster.

“Several communities have been submerged by flooding and residents displaced.

“Most of the victims urgently need food, clothing materials, beddings, medical supplies and shelter.

“Please, NEMA, SEMA and the state government, should consider this as a serious and desperate SOS message and treat it with the urgency, humaneness and responsibility that it requires.”

“I also call on the Anambra State Government to liaise with the Transition Committee Chairman, Hon. Paschal Aniegbuna and President Generals of Ogbaru communities, to coordinate relief efforts to ensure that they are prudently and transparently distributed in the best interest of the victims
