TRACKING____Former Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini has been diagnosed with coronavirus following his return to China.

Fellaini’s Chinese Super League club Shandong Luneng made the announcement on Sunday.

Fellaini, who joined Shandong last January from United, returned to the country on Friday to join up with his club and tested positive for the virus.

The former Belgium international did not have a fever and was asymptomatic, the club said, and has now been placed in quarantine.

Chinese football has been hit hard by the outbreak, with the start of the Chinese Super League pushed back indefinitely from its intended February 22 start date.

Fellaini, however, is the first player in the country’s top flight to have returned a positive test for the virus.

Brazilian striker Dori, who plays for second division side Meizhou Hakka, was confirmed as having the virus last week while Spain-based China international Wu Lei said he was recovering from the condition on Saturday.

On Saturday AC Milan and Italian legendary defender Paolo Maldini and his son Daniel tested positive for the deadly coronavirus.

And earlier on Saturday Juventus forward Paulo Dybala and his partner also tested positive.

Dybala is now the third player at Juventus after Daniele Rugani and Blaise Matuidi to contract the virus.

Fellaini joined United in 2013 from Everton before departing for Shandong Luneng in 2019.

During his time at United, he won the FA Cup, League Cup, Community Shield and Europa League.

He was part of the Belgian side that finished third at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
