Former Adamawa North senator, Elisha Abbo, has been taken into police custody after being accused of abusing a 13-year-old secondary school girl in Abuja.
According to the girl’s parents, the incident happened on June 29, 2025, at Abbo’s house in Katampe. They also claimed the ex-senator tried to silence them by sending money to her father.
They further alleged that Senator Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed (Binani), the 2023 Adamawa governorship candidate, visited their home and urged them not to go public with the case.
Police confirmed Abbo is being held at the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), where he is being questioned.
This is not the first controversy linked to Abbo. In 2019, he was caught on video assaulting a woman in an Abuja adult shop. He has also faced allegations of trying to blackmail a married woman with a sex tape.
The new case has sparked outrage from civil society groups and child rights activists, who are demanding justice. Many Nigerians online are also calling for a speedy trial.
As of now, Abbo and his lawyers have not released any statement.
