TRACKING___The former Secretary to Bayelsa state Government Alabo Gideon Ekeuwei has officially declared his interest to contest the Bayelsa Central Senatorial bye-election to stakeholders and party faithfuls in Yenagoa.

TrackNews Online recalled that upon the 13th of February, 2020 victory of the duo of Senator Douye Diri and Lawrence Ewrudjakpo of the Peoples Democratic Party as Governor and Deputy of Bayelsa State at the Supreme Court, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), had declared the two Senatorial seats vacant necessitating the Electoral Commission to begin preparations for a bye election to fill the above seats.

Alabo Gideon Ekeuwei who spoke with newsmen in Yenagoa shortly after the decaleration, said he has concluded consultations with stakeholders in the party and has informed them of his ambition and desire to fly the PDP’s flag in the 2020 Central Senatorial bye-election.

The former SSG, said he is eminently qualified to seek the Party’s nomination adding that he is better placed to represent the Central Senatorial given his experience in both the public and private sectors.

He further said, if giving the opportunity to serve at the red chamber, he will be able to aggregate and articulate the
views of the people of Bayelsa State and the
Niger Delta. And also having the insight and understanding of Niger Delta in the politics of Nigeria- oil politics;
environment and development, federal
restructuring, fiscal federalism and resource
distribution/allocation.

As a representative, “i will always get in torch with my constituents regularly for
consultative meetings and this requires establishment of active constituency office to facilitate participatory leadership which will enable me to establish think-tank to interrogate the concerns of the constituency for development
into motions and bills, while having the knowledge of oil industry laws in relation to its
impact on the economy and society of the
people.

He said he is ready to work with whoever will assist in the task of nation building adding that he would give the people of Central Senatorial District a better representation and a voice to reckon with at the red chamber of the National Assembly.

He also stated that it was high time the people of Bayelsa Central Senatorial District stopped crying for marginalisation but stand up to be counted in the politics of Nigeria by voting for their best political brains to represent them at the National Assembly.

The former SSG who was also a legislator in the old Rivers State House of Assembly said that his interest to run for the position was strengthened by series of delegations from his Senatorial zone made up of seasoned Politicians, Youths, women and the elderly calling on him to represent them because they believe he would be a better Senator considering his meritorious service to the State as Secretary to Government.
