*Ihedioha, Adikwuru Head Team In Aboh Mbaise
As several political parties strategise for the coming November 11 governorship election in Imo State, there is excitement within the Peoples Democratic Party in the state as its candidate, Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu, unfolded his enlarged Gubernatorial Campaign Council and Campaign Management Committee in all the local governments of the state.
Interestingly, the ex-governor and the former House of Representatives Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha made the list as the Leader of the committee in Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area of the state which has 232 members.
Rt. Hon. Ihedioha is being supported by seasoned politician and communication expert, Hon. Dennis Adikwuru, as the Director General of the campaign committee in the Local Government.
Adikwuru, the Campaign DG in Aboh Mbaise, is the State Coordinator, of Imo PDP Grassroots Movement, a member of the Imo State Presidential Campaign Council under the Media and Publicity Sub-committee in the 2023 elections and erstwhile State Publicity Secretary, Imo State Professionals for Atiku..
According to the extended list of the campaign council made available to Sunday Independent, Senator Anyanwu himself is heading the council in Ikeduru local government, with 247 members.
A cursory look at the list also showed that Mbaitolu Local Government Area has 48 members, with Hon. Ben Duru as the Leader; Ahiazu Mbaise has 119 members; Owerri North, 126; Owerri West 59; Ezinihitte 91; Ngor Okpala, 216; and Owerri Municipal, 362.
Speaking with Sunday Independent on Saturday on the development, an excited Hon. Dennis Adikwuru, said that the members of the campaign council are now awaiting their inauguration, which may be early next week.
He said: “The PDP is now very ready to kick off grassroots campaigns in all the nooks and crannies of the state, and will give the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidate, Hope Uzodimma a run for their money.”
On the appointment of Chief Emeka Ihedioha as the Leader of the Campaign Council in Abo Mbaise Local Government, Hon. Adikwuru, a long-time associate of the former Deputy Speaker, hailed the development, saying that it is a sign of good things to come for the party.
He said: “Chief Ihedioha’s appointment by Senator Anyanwu to lead the campaign in Aboh Mbaise is a good omen. That is Chief Ihedioha’s natural position to occupy and the right to go.
“Chief Ihedioha will not just be working for the success of Senator Anyanwu, he will be working for the victory of PDP and by extension, that of Ndi-Imo.
“From next week Imo State will be witnessing accelerated campaigns by all the political parties in the election, but it will be intense in the PDP
“As a seasoned grassroots mobiliser, I 11122221 you that the PDP knows how to run a grassroots campaign and Nigerians will see it in Imo from next week, especially in Aboh Mbaise area.”
