TRACKING___ The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Essien Udim State Constituency, Mr. Nse Ntuen has withdrawn from the rerun election slated for today (Saturday). Ntuen in a statement issued yesterday, he said he would not participate in the rerun election, adding that today’s supplementary election was illegal.

He stated that there was no need for a supplementary election in Essien Udim as he had convincingly defeated his opponent, Mr. Esse Umoh of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the March 9, 2019 assembly election but was denied his certificate of return by the INEC resident electoral commissioner, Mr. Mike Igini’. “More so, Mr. Esse Umoh and the People’s Democratic Party who convincingly lost the election went to the tribunal and the case was struck out.

“A subsequent appeal by my opponent to the Court of Appeal was also unsuccessful as the Court of Appeal did not nullify my election and being the highest appellate body for State House Elections, the Court of Appeal did not also order a rerun election in my constituency,” he said.
