TRACKING> The trigger-happy policeman who shot the driver of a commercial vehicle and a passenger in Bayelsa State on January 6 has been dismissed from the Nigeria Police Force.
The spokesman for the State Police Command, Mr Asinim Butswat, a Superintendent of Police, disclosed this on Tuesday in response to an enquiry by our correspondent on when the officer would be charged to court.

The officer in question had on that fateful day shot a driver and passenger in front of a second-generation bank where he was a security guard on duty. He and the driver were said to have had an altercation over parking rights which resulted in the shooting. The two victims, who survived the brutal assault, have been receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa.
Following the incident, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Uche Anozia, ordered the arrest and detention of the suspect at the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department. Although Butswat did not state when the policeman would be arraigned, he said the officer had been removed from the Force.
“He has been dismissed from the Force and the process for (his) arraignment is ongoing,” the police image maker said.
