Blackout in Rivers and Bayelsa as youths shut down a major power station.
TRACKING____The port Harcourt electricity distribution company (PHEDC) is responsible for the distribution of power both in Rivers and Bayelsa state.
Power has not regular in Nigeria and the bayelsa and rivers state situations is no different.
There has been a total blackout for sometime now in the above mentioned states, when we inquired as to what is the reason for the blackout; the port Harcourt electricity distribution company PHEDC said angry youths had shut down a major power facility at the Afam power station in oyigbo local government area of rivers state.
The acting manager in her statement said; the youths forcefully took control of the Afam power station in oyigbo local government area of rivers state belonging to Transmission Company of Nigeria.
As at the time of filing this report, all attempts to calm the youths down proved abortive. The manager urged the government and law enforcement agencies to intervene in the matter as they have been denied access to the premises.
