TRACKING____Chief Ademola Odunade, the President of a Mapo Customary Court in Ibadan, on Thursday, dissolved a 14-year-old marriage between one Ayoade Aderiye and his wife, Yemi Aderiye over childlessness and disrespect.

Odunade held that the bond of love between Ayoade and Yemi had been irreparably damaged, hence the need for the marriage dissolution.

“In the interest of peaceful living, the union between Ayoade and Yemi has ceased to be,’’ the Arbitrator said.

He, however, told the complainant (Ayoade) to pay N5, 000 to the respondent to allow her to pack out her property.

Earlier, the petitioner, Ayoade, an engineer and a resident of Ayegun-Oleyo area in Ibadan had expressed frustration over his wife’s inability to conceive despite all his effort at childbearing.

He told the court that Yemi’s inability to conceive had given him both physical and psychological trauma.

“When the problem of her childlessness got to its peak, Yemi suspected that I was responsible for her inability to conceive, so she took me to a medical doctor for examination.

“However, we were both treated and given a drug, but Yemi still couldn’t conceive, probably due to some complicated health problems in her body.

“Soon after, I married another wife and gave birth.

“Ever since then, Yemi has resorted to nagging, disobedience, raining curses and constant fighting in the house.

“She is also stubborn and highly disrespectful to me, my relatives and friends,’’ Ayoade said.

Yemi had opposed the suit and denied all the allegations leveled against her.

Yemi, a trader, argued that a vision, revealed to her, had compelled her to be inseparable from her husband.

“My lord, a prophet told me that I must marry only one husband in my life.

“I am not a troublesome woman and there was never a time I had any misunderstanding with his relatives,’’ Yemi pleaded.
