Covid-19: Make Food, Water, Light Available As You Lockdown, Marcus Charges Gov. Diri

TRACKING______The immediate passed chairman of Peremabiri community in southern Ijaw Local Government of Bayelsa state Mr. Marcus Princhard on Wednesday advised the Bayelsa State governor Sen. Douye Diri to back lockdown across the state with the provision of everyday existential needs of the masses.

Mr. Marcus warns that unless everyday needs of the people are made available “the emerging lockdown of the state may not achieve its desired result of promoting “self-isolation” and “social distancing””

The chairman in a release entitled “COVID-19: Together We Shall Win”, made available to newsmen in Yenagoa stated that there must reasonable supply of electricity, water and unbroken chain of food items.

He further warned that unless the needs of people are made available, the federal and state government may face rebellion from people which will be counter productive.

The chairman called on federal and State Government to see how Education and Health will become top priorities after this pandemic saying working together, the country will overcome.

“Access to electricity and running water and an unbroken chain of food supply and availability of other essential items should be key components of the policy called “lockdown”. Unless the people’s survival needs are factored into the equation, governments at the national and sub-national levels may be courting an uncontrollable regime of rebellion which may be counterproductive to the cause of fighting the COVID-19 pandemic in Nigeria.
