TRACKING___Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri will on Tuesday swear in the 24 commissioner-designates that were screened and cleared last week by the state House of Assembly.

The swearing-in ceremony, according to a statement on Monday by his Acting Chief Press, Daniel Alabrah, will take place at the Executive Chamber inside Government House, Yenagoa, at noon.

The statement said the commissioner-designates with only one guest were expected to be seated by 11.30 am.

Diri had sent the list to the lawmakers’ penultimate Thursday after six months of his swearing-in on February 14, 2020.

Fear that the screening might be put on hold came last Monday following the nullification of the state’s governorship election held in November 2019 over exclusion of the ANDP in that election.

But Governor Diri bolstered the courage of the lawmakers by asking them not to suspend the screening in spite of the tribunal ruling that ordered a fresh governorship poll.

Also, Governor Diri has constituted the campaign team of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Bayelsa West Senatorial District for the forthcoming senatorial by-election in the state.

Diri, while constituting the campaign team, expressed confidence in the members of the team to achieve the uphill task.

He said the team stood a better chance to educate the electorate in the senatorial district on the potential and advantages of voting the candidate of the PDP in the forthcoming by-elections.

In another development, the governor has commiserated with the family of Chief Nathan Egba-Ologo, a former Commissioner for Information, Orientation and Strategy, over the death of his wife, Mrs. Rosemarie Eneotse Egba, at the age of 43.

Diri in a condolence message to the family on Sunday said Rosemarie’s death at a young age was shocking and a great loss to the entire family.

He said: “I share in your grief and that of your family. The loss of a dear one comes with some pains. It is even more so when the person is quite young.

“However, only God understands why this is so. Your family must take solace in the fact that she lived a worthy life.”

While praying for the repose of her soul, the governor urged the family to be comforted by her impactful life and that she had gone to a better place of rest.
