– Four persons including a principal of the Ojo-Aro community grammar school in Osun state, are accused of colluding with Senator Ademola Adeleke to commit examination malpractice

– Senator Adeleke is absent at the court proceeding on Monday, October 15, due to a reported health issue

– The trial judge, Justice Ekwo, adjourns the matter for further hearing on October 31, 2018

Senator Ademola Adeleke and four others have been charged before the Federal High Court in Abuja by the federal government with alleged examination malpractices.

The charge suit accused some official of the Ojo-Aro community grammar school in Osun state of fraudulently registering some persons as students to enable them sit for the National Examination Council (NECO) examination of June/July 2017.

The Nation reports that those named in the action filed against the senator on Monday, October 15, include: Sikiru Adeleke, Alhaji Aregbesola Mufutau (the principal of the school), Gbadamosi Thomas Ojo (school Registrar) and Dare Samuel Olutope (a teacher).

However, Adeleke was absent in court on health grounds. His counsel, Alex Izinyon, told the court that his client took ill and had been stooling.

Izinyon sought a postponement of the arraignment which the prosecution lawyer, Simon Lough, an assistant commissioner of police (ACP) agreed to.

The trial judge, Justice Ekwo then adjourned for further hearing on October 31.

TRACKNEWS.NG had reported that President Muhammadu Buhari had ordered the inspector-general of police, Ibrahim Idris, to halt the alleged examination malpractices suit against the Senator Ademola Adeleke pending the conclusion of the Osun state governorship election which the lawmaker was contesting on the platform of the People Democratic Party (PDP).

It was learnt that the order of the president was to forestall any incident that could hinder the smooth outcome of the Osun election.

Meanwhile, Senator Ademola Adeleke has vowed to use both physical and legal means to upturn the results in his favour. He has also thanked Nigerians and members of the media for their enthusiasm in support of the democracy.

He alleged that he was robbed at the polls, assuring that no effort would be spared in the effort at upturning the results.
