Flood submerged homes, offices in Yenagoa at Bayelsa state.
TRACKING_____Yenagoa the capital of Bayelsa State is an old town but a new city. When the state was created in 1996 the area that comprises the present metropolis was a rural backwater with a population of barely a few thousand people who were mostly natives of the small local villages. These are the same communities that now house well over three hundred thousand cosmopolitan inhabitants. The city of Yenagoa and the few of the state in the local government area in Bayelsa suffered severe flooding.
Residents of the Bayelsa State came under heavy flooding since last week. torrential rainfall that submerged homes and offices in yenagoa. Most of the occupants of affected homes and offices blamed the renewed flooding as a result of damps, unavailability of functional drainages, encroachment of buildings on flood plains, stream and creeks is also some of the causes.
The people at yenagoa pleaded for support from the National emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to facilitate our efforts to mitigate the effect, relief items should be readily available for us for easy distribution.
