Gov. Bello urges Okene residents to utilise KOWAF outreach for medical aid By Halimat Isah

Residents of Okene have been urged to utilise the ongoing medical outreach presented to them by the State Governor’s wife, Rashida Bello through her Kogi Women and Youths Advancement Foundation (KOWAF) to seek medical aid.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Health, Doctor Ahmed Attah who represented Governor Bello made the remark Friday in Okene while declaring the KOWAF medical outreach in the ancient town open.

Doctor Attah said it was a great opportunity created by the wife of the Governor for the people to get them checked and treated for all forms of diseases for free, adding that they had up to twenty medical doctors and other health workers on ground to attend to their various health needs.

According to Doctor Attah, the medical outreach would move to other senatorial districts when the team is through with central to ensure that no district was left out of the benevolence of Mrs. Bello.

“We will move to other locations once we are done with the 5 local government areas in central. The Governor’s wife has the love of the people at heart, through her foundation KOWAF, this huge crowd is expected to be given free medical care. Free eye glasses, treatment of diabetes, hepatitis, cough, cold, rheumatism, malnutrition, pregnant women, children’s eye test, deworming and others,” he added.

He reiterated that the Governor Bello-led administration is committed to the welfare and well being of the people adding that the government will continue to assist and promote programmes and policies that could give the people the opportunity to feel government presence.

In her remarks, the representative of the Governor’s wife, the Special Assistant Administration in her office, Mrs. Mimi Sandra-Musa described KOWAF as the pet project of Mrs. Rashida Bello which was initiated out of the desire to meet and address the challenges women, children and youths are confronted with in the society.

Mrs. Sandra-Musa said the medical outreach is expected to attend to the health needs of over a thousand citizens in each local government areas, stressing that the Governor’s wife decided to commence the outreach from central because of her lover for her people.

In their separate remarks, some of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Shuaibu Oricha and Salamat Yusuf expressed gratitude to the Governor’s wife for having their interest at heart and for giving them the opportunity to be tested and given free medication/eye glasses.

A cross section of other beneficiaries who spoke did not hold back their praises and prayers for the Governor’s wife for bringing free medications to their door steps.

The medical outreach which is expected to last for five days across the five Local Government Areas in Kogi Central Senatorial District, attends to patients from 8.00 o’clock in the morning to 4.00 o’clock in the evening each day, and will be in Okehi Local Government Area today (Saturday, August 18) at the Comprehensive Health Centre, while Adavi Local Government will take its turn on Sunday, at the Comprehensive Health Centre Nagazi.

Similarly, the medical team will be in Ogori Local Government Area on Monday, August 20, 2018 at Ogori General Hospital and Ajaokuta on Tuesday at the Cottage Hospital respectively.

The KOWAF team lead by Doctor Attah, visited the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, His Royal Majesty, Doctor Ado Ibrahim, to pay homage and intimate him on the commencement of the medical outreach in area.

In his response, the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, commended the efforts of Mrs. Rashida Bello for initiating the programme, adding that the wellbeing of the people has always been the responsibility of every responsible government.

“I’m proud of our young Governor, Yahaya Bello, Nigeria needs more leaders with sound mind, it is a good effort to attend to the medical needs of the people and I’m grateful to the government for showing concern about the health situation of the people. May God bless our daughter Rashida Bello and his husband the Governor,” he added.
