Gov Dickson Collects His New PDP Card, Says Exercise Is A Revalidation Of PDP Membership

…Calls On PDP Leaders To Have Their Doors Wide Open
BAYELSA State Governor, the Honourable Henry Seriake Dickson has on Sunday in his community, Toru Orua, revalidated his membership of the PDP. The PDP Chairman of Ward 2, Sagbama Local Government Council, Hon Bomieghan Egere registered the Governor in the new party register and issued him with a new membership card.
A press Statement by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Francis Ottah Agbo quoted the Governor as having said that his revalidation of membership exercise in his Ward signals the commencement of the Revalidation of PDP membership by party faithful across the State. The Governor urged party leaders and executives of the party at different levels to open the doors of the party wide open for defectors and returnees to join the PDP.
He said: I want to thank my ward chairman and the other officers of the party at the ward, Local government and at the state levels for their sacrifice and the good work they are doing in terms of providing service for our party men and women at all levels.
I am here to commence the membership re-validation exercise in the state. We took a decision at the party level to organise a fresh membership re-validation exercise.
This does not mean that PDP members have lost their valid cards before now, but we are only re-validating the membership.
“So we call on all the existing party members to come forward, approach their ward chairmen as I have just done, in the various wards across our state so they can be issued with the new party membership card. We just want to update our party register to account for those that are just coming in, the few that left the party and those members that have passed since the last registration exercise.
This is going on across the length and breadth of our state and I want to urge all party leaders to mobilize the party membership.
“Don’t obstruct any one who wishes to join our party from being registered. We do not wish to hear of any of such case. Register all those who come forward to identify as members of our party and then issue them cards.
I want this exercise to go on and be concluded smoothly before the party primaries will kick off. I want to thank you all and I urge all those who are trooping into our party to register as party members and once they do so, they will be entitled to all the rights, privileges and benefits that come with membership of our party.
“Again I assure party members who have been steadfast and loyal all these years that while we are welcoming the new members, it will not be to the detriment of loyal and longsuffering party members who have been with us through thick and thin. The interest of loyal party members will not be sacrificed at all.
But then, we must open the party to all because we want all Nigerians of goodwill who want to identify with us, to do so without hindrance.
