A former aide of ex-Presidents Jonathan and Obasanjo has reacted to the presidential ambition of Atiku Abubakar

– He said Nigeria will need 10 years to recover if Atiku becomes the president

– The ex-presidential aide, however, said Nigeria will make history if Senate president Bukola Saraki becomes Nigeria’s president for a day

A former aide of ex-Presidents Goodluck Jonathan and Olusegun Obasanjo, Doyin Okupe, says Nigeria will not make progress if former vice-president Atiku Abubakar succeeds in his presidential ambition.

Recall that Abubakar, a former chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) last year. He is one of the presidential aspirants of the opposition party.

However, Okupe said Abubakar’s presidency would draw Nigeria backwards and that it will take the country ten years to recover from such.

Writing on Twitter on Monday, August 20, Okupe said while he disagrees with Abubakar becoming Nigeria’s president, it would be a different case with Senate President Bukola Saraki.

Saraki had said he is considering running against President Muhammadu Buhari in the next election.

“If Atiku rules Nigeria for 1 day, it will take us 10 years to recover. If Saraki rules for a day, Nigeria will (bxexcxoxmxe) make history,” Okupe tweeted.

However, following the heated the tweet generated on Twitter, Okupe on Wednesday, August 22, claimed he did not originate the tweet but did not mention the originator of the tweet nor reveal where he got it from.

His tweet: “I did not originate d post saying if Atiku ruled, Nig will not recover in 10yrs, but if SP, it ‘ll bcom history.I changed bcos history to “will make History”.Can never insult Atiku 4 any reason.”

Meanwhile, TRACK NEWS had previously reported that Saraki on Monday, August 20, replied the national leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, saying the latter was accommodating inadequacies in the party because of his presidential ambition for 2023.

Saraki said this in response to a letter reportedly written by Tinubu giving reasons why the Senate president and others left the APC.

The Senate president noted that he had at several times complained to Tinubu and a host of party leaders in the APC about the administration of Muhammadu Buhari as well as the need to carry critical stakeholders along.
