Kano 2019: Ex-deputy governor Hafiz Abubakar joins PDP
The immediate past deputy governor of Kano State, Hafiz Abubakar, along with 10 former aides to Governor Abdullahi Ganduje have decamped to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Mr Abubakar announced his defection on Tuesday at a ceremony organised by the Kwankwasiyya loyalists at the Mambayya House.
He said he decided to defect to PDP in ”compliance with his godfather, Rabiu Kwankwaso”, a former governor of the state who earlier defected to PDP.
Earlier on Tuesday TRACK NEWS reported that 10 aides to Governor Ganduje resigned their appointments and pledged their allegiance to the former deputy governor.
The officials said although they had resigned, they are still members of R-APC, a faction of the ruling party.
They said Mr Ganduje’s administration had deviated from the ”ideology, policies and manifesto of ‘Kwankwasiyya,”’ the name given to the political group led by Mr Kwankwaso.
