Meet The Husband Of Okonjo-Iweala, The First Woman To Head WTO
Families of Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala from Ogwashi-Ukwu, in Abia state, are celebrating her new appointment as the Director-General of the World Trade Organization.
Presently, a lot of people are talking about Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala. Her state of origin is Ogwashi-Ukwu, in Delta state. Her husband’s name is Ikemba Iweala, his hometown is in the south-eastern part of Abia state, in Nigeria.
These are the facts about the man, who rules the life of the first African woman to be the Director General of WTO.
Dr. Ikemba Iweala is from Umuahia, in Abia State, and his wife, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala is from Ogwashi-Ukwu, in Delta State.
The father of Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Professor Kachukwu Benjamin Okonjo was the traditional leader of Ogwashi-Uku in Delta State.
Dr. Ikemba Iweala had his early education in Nigeria, from his primary level to his university degree. He has his early training as a medical professional from the University of Ibadan.
He finished his NYSC at a Rural Health Center, located in Igbaja, Kwara State.
He finished his training on General Surgery-Trauma, and Neurosurgery at the Manchester Royal Hospital, in Manchester, and different other clinics in England.
He is a member of the Royal Society of Medicine, and likewise a member of the Royal College of Surgeons, in Edinburgh.
After he finished his training, he practiced for some years at UCH, the University College Hospital, in Ibadan, and also worked at the Medical Systems of the University of Maryland, in Baltimore.
He was their clinical coach at the Emergency Medicine in the hospital at George Washington University.
Ikemba Iweala and Ngozi are blessed with 4 children, a daughter, Iweala Onyinye, and 3 sons, Iweala Uzodinma, Iweala Okechukwu, and Iweala Uchechi.
Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala will resume work formally as the Director General of WTO, on March 1st, 2021, at Genève in Switzerland.
