Niger Delta University appoints new director of IPSS
The Niger Delta University (NDU), Wilberforce Island, Bayelsa State, has appointed Philips Okolo, PhD, as the new acting Director of the Institute of Peace and Security Studies (IPSS) of the institution.
Vice Chancellor of NDU, Professor Samuel Edoumiekumo, who made the appointment, said the appointment took effect from February 15, 2021.
Dr Okolo, before his new post, lectures in the Department of Political Science, Faculty of Social Sciences, of the university.
As the new acting director of IPSS, Okolo, a seasoned Peace and Conflict Resolution expert, is meant to run with the vision of the Institute which include engaging in peace, research, advocacy and practice as well as security studies at the national, regional and global levels.
He’s also, among others, as sighted in the appointment letter signed by the VC, expected to engage in research on the Niger Delta Conflict and provide strategic plans for its resolution.
