A stalwart of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ward 9 in Southern Ijaw Constituency 1 Pastor Yaibiemi Simeon Ayogoi has called Amassoma people to maintain the prevailing peace and support the government of Gov. Henry Seriake Dickson to do more for the community.

Pastor Ayogoi made the call while handing over the keys of a rented apartment he donated to the Executives of PDP Ward 9 for use as their Secretariat in Amassoma.

According to Yaibiemi Ayogoi who is known to be a strong supporter of Chief Henry Seriake Dickson, he went to Amassoma to fulfil one of the cardinal instructions of the Governor that all political appointees should go home and carry along their people at the grassroot.

“So I went there to see my Ward Excos and see how they’re carrying out the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) membership registration. And while interacting, they told me some things that they lack, one of which is a party Secretariat at the Ward level. Well, as a lover of the grassroots, I had to instantly respond by paying and handing over the keys of a befitting apartment to the Party to be used as their Secretariat for the Ward.

“And equally, there were some persons that where injured during the Amassoma NDU crisis of which the Restoration government in its benevolence, took them to the Government House hospital and gave them first class treatment. Right now they discharged, and they’re at home now for rehabilitation. So I equally visited them, listened to their plight and equally offered little financial support to aid their rehabilitation.

“I also interacted with some internal security members who are vigilantes and other leaders of the community to hear what they think is going on in terms of security because we want peace in that community so that the school can strive. And our interaction was very fruitful. There’re some things that I’m taking back, that I would take back to the government, so that in due time, the government that I work with, the Governor that I know will respond positively to the plight of the Amassoma people.
He also spoke on the fate of victims of the Amassoma NDU crisis, saying that the government actually did a lot in their treatment, and the government discussed with their families to some extent and there were amicable settlements for the dead to be buried.

“And for the living who were injured, you see, it’s more important to salvage the living than the dead. So right now, I’ve seen them, I’ve seen their physical situation. Some of them are permanently incapacitated, and they were hard workers. I think as a government that I belong, I will raise some points with my leaders in government so that they can find a way to see how those people can be carried along in terms of development by empowerment, even little thing, so that they can set up business, and they can live and continue their life. And the Governor that I know, that I’m serving is a listening Governor. I know that if we raise positive things like that he will respond. And those that are wounded and are rehabilitated, or still in the process of their rehabilitation to be rest assured that something good will come to them”.
