Police arrest man, 46 for allegedly defiling daughter

TRACKING___Bauchi state police command has arrested a 46-year-old man who allegedly had sexual intercourse with his 15-year-old daughter.

A press statement released by the command’s public relations officer, DSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil said that the suspect, Umar Mohammed defiled the victim who is physically challenged.

Popularly known as Wulas of Odoji quarters Azare, Katagum LGA, the suspect according to the PPRO, carried out the act in her mother’s room after luring his prey with fifty naira.

DSP Wakil said that the arrest is part of the command’s effort to fight sexual and gender-based violence in Bauchi state.

He added that 18 suspects have also been apprehended in connection with various rape related offences across the state. Some of the cases he said include the defilement of an 11-year-old boy by 45-year-old Ibrahim Mohammed of Kofar Idi area of the state.

Wakil said that the suspect in a case of sodomy had confessed during interrogation that he had carnal knowledge of the boy through the anus.

The police image maker who explained that the 18 suspects have confessed to various crimes they committed informed that investigation is ongoing after which they would be charged to court.

He said one suspect, Khalid Abdullahi of Nasarawa area in Misau LGA is at large and that police were making efforts to effect his arrest.

DSP Wakil cautioned commercial tricycle riders to be conscious of the passengers they carry and avoid doing their job in suspicious and isolated areas.

He also appealed to members of the public to continue to cooperate with the police and other security agencies in combating crimes in the state and to always report any incident to police for necessary action.
