TARE PORRI MOVES FIRST MOTION FOR 6TH BAYELSA STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY.

TRACKING >>The member representing Ekeremor Constituency-2, Hon. Tare Porri today moved the first motion for the 6th Bayelsa State House of Assembly which is about three weeks old.

The motion is borthered on education and is tagged “The Urgent Need to Rescue the Plight of Pupils in Public Schools Within Rural Communities Across Bayelsa State”.

Hon. Tare Porri who said, his decision in moving the motion was due to several calls he received from leaders of rural communities in his constituency and beyond, drawing his attention to the ugly fact that Schools in Rural Communities has few and or, no teachers to teach the pupils and students in them.

Hon. Porri noted that, his investigations revealed that in most of the schools, it’s either teachers posted to serve in them are refusing to resume or teachers are not there at all.

According to him, if this worrisome trend is not taken head-on, the huge efforts already put in place by the Restoration Administration in the education sector over the years will be in jeopardy.

Having gone through the motion, members in their response was unanimous with the concerns raised by the mover of the motion and thanked him for bringing it forward for debate at the floor of the house.

The house thereafter prayed that the following bodies appear before the house committee on education on the matter.

They are:

1) The commissioner for Education,
2) Chairman and secretaries of State Universal Basic Education Board,
3) Chairman and Secretaries of the Bayelsa State Post Primary Schools Board,
4) All Local Government Education Secretaries,
5) The Bayelsa State Chapter of the Nigerian Labour Congress.

With the approval from members of the house, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Tonye Emmanuel Isenah charged members of the joint house committees of Education/Public Service Commission and Establishment to report progress back to the house within three weeks.

Hon. Douglas Samson Awudu, Nembe Constituency-3.
