2019/ WE SHALL NOT ALLOW THE APC HUMILIATE CHIEF MICHAEL JOHNNY – IIA
The leadership of the Ijaw Interest Advocates (IIA); Izanzan Intellectual Camp strongly condemns the current political persecution metted on Chief Michael Johnny by the All Progressives Congress (APC) lead by Comr. Adams Oshiomhole
A statement signed by it’s national coordinator Amb. Arerebo Salaco Yerinmene and the National Spokesman of the group comrade Obiri Wenebokefe Jonathan said, Even as an apolitical organization, we shall never sit down and watch with indifference as a bonafide son of the Ijaw Nation is outrightly humiliated by some oppressive elements who are bent on exterminating the Ijaw Nation politically. Chief Michael Johnny’s travails are not unconnected to scripts prepared by enemies of the Ijaw Nation to ensure that the seat of the Delta South Senatorial District is illegally hijacked and given to those who claim lordship in the region without recourse to democratic principles and standards.
As an organization aimed at protecting the Ijaw Interest, we make bold to warn the leadership of the APC to desist from this wicked act. The party should afford it’s candidates the opportunity to democratically elect it’s flagbearers or come to a consensus ad idem without prejudice.
We also send this strong signal to Chief Michael Johnny that if he is not ready for the race, he should step aside, abandon his political party that has never valued him and use all his resources physical, material and moral to support Chief James Ebiowou Manager. He should understand that his current ordeals are sequel to his identity as an Ijaw man, thus if he would not contest, he should immediately queue behind Chief James Ebiowou Manager, the PDP flag bearer.
