The federal government has formed a 15-member Inter-Ministerial Committee to plan Nigeria’s 62nd Independence Day celebrations.
The committee was inaugurated yesterday by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha.
He stated that the committee was formed to plan, organize, and carry out all approved activities related to Nigeria’s 62nd Independence Day celebration on October 1, 2022, as well as to document all planned activities for posterity.
Mustapha, who is also the committee’s chairman, stated that the committee would also co-opt organizations and individuals relevant to the successful execution of the programs, as well as carry out other assignments as may be required for the program’s successful implementation.
He stated that the committee would meet on a regular basis to provide necessary direction on all activities planned for the celebration, and that sub-committees would be formed to assist in carrying out specific assignments from the Inter-Ministerial Committee.
The committee is made up of the Minister of Information and Culture and his counterparts from other ministries.
Foreign Affairs, FCT, Special Duties, and Inter-Governmental Affairs; National Security Adviser and Special Adviser to the President on Policy and Coordination
The Permanent Secretary, State House, the Permanent Secretary, Political and Economic Affairs Office, the Permanent Secretary, General Services Office, the Inspector-General of Police, DG DSS, and the Commander, Guards Brigade are also members.
