Fifty-six people are hospitalized in Kano State after contracting a strange disease that causes vomiting and urination.

According to Daily Trust the outbreak has spread to at least six areas in Gwangwan village in Rogo Local Government Area, leaving residents in a state of panic.

A member of the community, Muhammad Tukur, said they “rushed no fewer than 30 people to the Rogo General Hospital within a day of the outbreak.

“So far, only one person has died as a result of the outbreak.

“Most of the victims of the disease have complained of spending a lot of money on the disease,” he explained.

For the second time in a few days, an outbreak of a strange disease that has affected more than 200 people in the state, which is suspected to have contaminated water or chemicals increases the odour of alcohol and causes it.

A man and eight members of his family who contracted the disease in Gwangwan village said he was shocked to see that his mother, wife and infected children were unable to stand up due to the disease.

He said he had spent over N10,000 on hospitals in Rogo and Gwarzo, but there was no sign of success.

A man also confirmed that his two children had contracted the disease and had spent more than N20,000 in hospital despite financial constraints.

Health workers at Gwangwan Village Hospital, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the disease was beyond the control of the small hospital, so patients were referred to Rogo General Hospital.

However, officials at Rogo General Hospital, who asked not to be named, said they had no knowledge of the outbreak.

But the Epidemiology Officer at the Kano State Ministry of Health told the news platform that they have a strange outbreak.

However, he said the ministry had received information that four people had contracted the virus and had been treated and discharged from the hospital.
