First Lady of Equatorial Guinea: ‘Balthasar Has Destroyed My Women’s Dignity’
Equatorial Guinea’s First Lady, Constancia Mangue Nsue Okomo, has said Baltasar Ebang Engonga has destroyed the dignity of the country’s women.
They First Lady addressed the controversy involving Baltasar Ebang Engonga, the former Director General of the country’s National Financial Investigation Agency (ANIF) after numerous explicit videos surfaced on social media, showing Ebang Engonga in intimate encounters with several women, some of whom are reportedly connected to prominent national figures. The videos have sparked widespread outrage both domestically and internationally. Ghanaians have been sharing and making jokes out of the viral videos and pictures.

In a meeting with Prime Minister Manuel Osa Nsue Nsua, discussions centered on strategies to prevent similar incidents in the future. The government is now exploring ways to strengthen privacy laws and personal data protection to curb the misuse of private content on digital platforms.
The case has ignited a broader debate about digital-age privacy and the role of institutions in upholding fundamental rights. During her remarks, the First Lady emphasized the importance of not only reacting to such incidents but also proactively creating a safe and respectful environment for women.
She called for restoring public trust in institutions and ensuring the scandal does not permanently tarnish the image of Equatoguinean women.
