Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has been asked to relinquish his desire to run for the position of president come 2023.

TrackNews Online understands that the North Central Council of the All Progressive Congress (APC) made the call in Abuja on Thursday, April 8.

Speaking at a press conference in the Federal Capital Territory earlier today, Kassim Muhammad, the Coordinator of APC North Central Council, suggests that Governor Bello should forget his urge to lead the country and instead support the zoning of the party’s National Chairmanship to the region.

Muhammad who spoke at the APC National Secretariat said Bello must allow the North Central part of the country to produce the next president, in the interest of fairness. He described the governor as a democrat, noting that it would be best that he abandon his ambition in the interest of political justice and equity.

He said: “The North Central Council is equally appealing to the Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello to have a rethink over his 2023 presidential ambition.

“We strongly believe that conceding the presidential ticket of our party, the APC to the southern part of the country would enhance equity and political justice. We believe that the Kogi State Governor is a true democrat who believes in one Nigeria.

“We are therefore appealing to Yahaya Bello to drop his presidential ambition, and join us in the campaign to ensure that the North Central produces the next APC National Chairman”.

Meanwhile, the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and presidential aspirant, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has been warned by a party chieftain, Prince Onu that his enemies are within the party.

Onu said further that the enemies are the ones trying to cause bad blood between Tinubu and President Muhammadu Buhari.

He made the submission in a statement on Wednesday where he praised Tinubu as a true leader who has ensured Nigeria remains as one and its democracy is protected, TrackNews Online reports.
