The newly inaugurated National Executive Committee of the Forum of State Independent Electoral Commissions (FOSIECON), led by its National Chairman, Hon. Mamman Nda Eri, paid a courtesy visit to the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Abuja today.

The delegation was warmly received by INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, alongside other members of the Commission. The visit marks a renewed commitment to deepening collaboration between the two electoral bodies to enhance democratic governance across Nigeria.
In his remarks, Hon. Mamman Nda Eri emphasized the Forum’s resolve to promote electoral integrity, transparency, and closer synergy with INEC.

He further outlined areas where FOSIECON seeks INEC’s continued support, including technical assistance, capacity building through joint training and workshops, and knowledge sharing on electoral best practices and innovations.
Responding, INEC Chairman Prof. Mahmood Yakubu reaffirmed the constitutional importance of both bodies, stressing that credible local government elections are foundational to national development.
We hope to explore, during our closed-door session, how INEC can further support SIECs in improving electoral standards,” he said.
Prof. Yakubu added that INEC remains committed to supporting credible elections at the local level, urging SIECs to model their conduct of local polls after INEC’s approach in the Federal Capital Territory.
