The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) on Saturday received 301 Nigerians stranded in Ukraine amidst Russia’s invasion.

The Nigerians that were evacuated through Budapest, Hungary included students from war-torn Sumy, Russia.

The Commission in a post on its Twitter on Saturday confirmed their arrival.

According to NiDCOM, the Nigerian evacuees boarded Flight AZM2351 with AzmanAir from Budapest, Hungary.

It further stated that they arrived at the Nnamdi International Airport at 8.50 p.m local time.

“Returnees are getting $100 transport fare from the Federal Government of Nigeria, free SIM cards loaded with 5,000 Naira airtime to allow them to reach their family members courtesy of a partnership between NiDCOM and MTN.”

The latest evacuation makes it the fourth time the Nigerian Government would evacuate its citizen since the clash started between Russia and Ukraine.

The rift between the two countries has left thousand dead, while properties have been destroyed.
