Adeleye Kunle Reports

The Medical Director of Federal Medical Center (FMC), Abeokuta, Prof. Adewale Musa-Olomu, has been enmeshed in another alleged financial misappropriation and fraud running to the tune of N100million.

Uhurutimes gathered that the latest fraud allegation involved the Deputy Director of Finance of the centre, Mr. Idowu Samuel Olaleye and the Head of Department, Procurement, Mr. Paul Olutunde.

The trio were alleged to have been involved in illegal diversion of millions of naira met for the payment of compensation to some land owners at Ajebo village, the proposed site for the University College of Medicine of the hospital.

Following the allegations, the Centre for Anti-Corruption and Open Leadership (CACOL), has petitioned the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFFC), calling for the investigation of the trio.

CACOL in the petition dated Tuesday, August 2 and signed by its Chairman, Debo Adeniran, a copy of which was made available to our correspondent accused Musa-Olomu, Olaleye and Olutunde of using personal bank accounts to siphon government funds.

The group in the petition titled: “Demand For Thorough investigation Of Mr Idowu Samuel Olaleye Of Finance And Accounts Department, Federal Medical Centre Abeokuta, Ogun State”, also accused the trio of failing to follow due process in the financial management of the centre.

CACOL also copied the Board Chairman, Federal Medical Centre Abeokuta, Ogun State, Head of Service of the Federation, Inspector General of Police, Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Health, Minister of State for Health, Minister for Health, Director General, Department of State Service (DSS) and the Chairman, Code of Conduct Bureau.

The Petition reads: “We consider it very important to bring to your attention and possible necessary actions to unravel the allegations of failure to follow due process in the financial management of the Centre under reference and the illegal means of siphoning government funds through the personal bank account of Mr. Idowu Samuel Olaleye (Deputy Director of Finance, Federal Medical Centre, Abeokuta, Ogun State).

“For your further information, following our intelligence report, Professor Adewale Musa-Olomu (Medical Director, Federal Medical Centre Abeokuta) in collaboration with the Head of Department Procurement, of the Centre Mr. Paul Olutunde domiciled a sum of One hundred million (100,000,000) naira in the personal Zenith Bank PLC accounts (1001200626) of Mr. Idowu Samuel Olaleye and another tranche of funds for the payment of compensation to some land owners at Ajebo village, the proposed site for the University College of Medicine of the hospital. Find attached herewith relevant documents for your further information in this respect.

“CACOL as you are aware is an aggregate of human rights, community based and civil society organizations and individuals with an anti-corruption and openness in governance agenda across Nigeria. It is a non-political, non-religious, non-sectarian, non-profit organization.

“Sir, we are encouraged to make the above request, because of the openness ICPC has continued to demonstrate by investigating and bringing corrupt

public officials to book and making public reports of its findings in the past and till now.

“We would appreciate your kind response towards sanitizing our country of corrupt elements”.

It would be recalled that CACOL had earlier written the National Assembly demanding the investigation of the Musa-Olomu for alleged corrupt practices and age falsification and abuse of office.
