Gombe Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) suffered another setback with the defection of its Publicity Secretary Mr. Muritala Usman Dukku to the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

Muritala joined the opposition NNPP after his resignation from the PDP last month.

Murtala was suspended by the PDP via a letter dated 22nd December 2022 by PDP Secretary, Adamu Abubakar, accusing him of working against the party’s interest.

He however resigned from the party barely two hours after his suspension through a letter addressed to the party leadership.

A gale of defections has been hitting the PDP following irreconcilable differences after the party primary in March last year.

In October last year, the runner-up in the PDP primary Alhaji Jamilu Gwamna defected to the ruling All Progressive Congress APC and became the campaign coordinator for Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya.

Gombe central zonal chairman, Engr Musa Gwani Bimason, Assistant State Treasurer of the PDP, Muhammad Yusuf Pindiga also defected to the NNPP a few days ago.

Others who defected in recent times were; Hon. Rambi Ayala and Hon Hamza, members representing Billiri East and Funakaye South respectively.

Gombe and Dukku LGA PDP women leaders, Maryam Muhammad Audi and Asabe Saleh have also dumped the PDP and joined the NNPP.
