…calls on youth to shun drugs
…receives US-based Bayelsa born athlete, Victory Godah
Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri today, led the weekly prosperity walk which takes place every Thursday.
Today, the Bayelsa State Drug Abuse Prevention and Rehabilitation Committee also joined the walk as part of activities to mark this year’s International day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking.

Governor Diri while speaking at the Samson Siasia Stadium immediately after the walk, used the opportunity to advise youth of the state to shun drugs.
“Today is acclaimed worldwide as international day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking.
As a government, not only are we marking it, but we are leading the campaign here. I like to once again, call on our youth to shun drugs”, Governor Diri stated.
The Governor also received Ekeremor-born US based athlete, Victory Godah, of Minnesota State University, who is on holiday in Nigeria.
Gov. Diri, who was presented with a Minnesota branded T-shirt, appreciated the Nigerian sprinter for donating sporting kits to young athletes in the state.
