KùķNkechii Ikpeazu, the wife of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State has visited the family of Mr Chibuzo Ikwunze who lost his four children mysteriously recently.

The late children, Kelechi, aged 12, Chimdi, aged 10, Oluomachi, aged 8 and Kingsley, aged 3, according to reports, on 25th of August, 2021, had gone for holidays at the home of a friend of the family when they had met their untimely death. Their host also succumbed to death.

Speaking during the condolence visit to the bereaved family at their hometown Umuagu Ohuhu in Umuahia North Local Government Area of the state, Mrs. Ikpeazu expressed sadness over the unfortunate incident and urged them to take heart and be consoled by the word of God.

Mrs. Ikpeazu, who was represented by her Principal Secretary, Mrs Love Ezema, recalled that as soon as this incident happened, Governor Ikpeazu dispatched a team to the FMC that ensured that the survivors were treated promptly and also paid their medical bills.

She said that the Governor had further directed and funded the management of Federal Medical Centre (FMC) to ensure that thorough autopsies are performed to determine what led to this unfortunate incident and as soon as the result is out it will be made public.

The Abia First Lady prayed God to grant the heartbroken woman the fortitude to bear the painful loss.

Responding after Mrs Ikpeazu’s condolence speech, the father of the dead children, Mr Chibuzo Ikwunze, who fought to hold back his tears, thanked the wife of the Governor for her motherly care and for reaching out to support the family in the moment of grief.
The bereaved father said the incident was very unusual and expressed gratitude to Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for the role he played when the incident occurred.
Also speaking, a community leader, Chief Patrick Emenikel, who was present to welcome the First Lady to the Umuagu ohuhu community, described the visit as very kind.

The representative of the First lady was accompanied on the visit by the State Woman Leader of the PDP, Lady Christy Emenike, former Deputy Chairman of Ukwa West, Lady Cecilia Okere and wife of former Commissioner of Boundary Matters, Mrs. Ezinne Obike
