TRACKING>>Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson, Governor of Bayelsa State has condemned the postponement of the elections in a press briefing held at the governor’s conference hall today.

The governor used the opportunity to commend all Bayelsans who travelled far and wide irrespective of party, to cast their votes.

In his words, ‘we share in your pains and anger over the postponement of the elections which INEC ought to have perfected, having been working for four years. This underscores the need for us as a nation to continue to strengthen our institutions’.

The governor commended the security agencies and expressed delight at the fact that the reasons provided by the INEC chairman did not border on security concerns.

He said, ‘In as much as we all condemn the postponement of the elections, all stakeholders must now come together to decide the way forward.’

Governor Dickson called on the President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, to announce an emergency meeting of the expanded executive members to discuss the details of the incident as well as proffer lasting solutions.

In conclusion, Governor Dickson urged all Bayelsans not to be dismayed but to rather continue with their peaceful consultations and prepare to vote on Saturday.
