The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has lampooned Governors yet to implement the new minimum wage.

NLC President, Ayuba Wabba, complained about the situation after a National Executive Council (NEC) meeting on Wednesday in Abuja.

Wabba recalled that the N30,000 monthly wage was signed into law on April 18, 2019.

“The worst violators of the national minimum wage law are employers in the public sector especially state governors,” he revealed.

NLC hinted that organised labour may take legal action over the matter.

“We should consider the use of the court of law to assert the sovereignty of our laws and compliance to same,” he added.

On national minimum pension for pensioners, Wabba stressed that Section 173 of the constitution demands review of minimum pension every four years.

NLC said it expected that all states in Nigeria would have concluded talks on the consequential increase in salaries.

He urged state governments yet to negotiate an agreement to do so, adding that workers would not wait forever.
