A youth advocacy group, Southern Peace Initiative forum, which comprises of members across 17 states, has drummed up support for the presidential aspirant of the Zenith Labour Party, Dr Olusegun Mimiko.
According to the group, the decision was premised on the aspirant’s vast contributions to Nigeria’s development as a former minister and Ondo State governor, as well as his interventions on social healthcare delivery and infrastructure, which makes him a model in public service. The group further said that his great spirit of sportsmanship in his days as governor of the state led to the unanimous adoption of his candidature by the youth organisation.
According to the president of the group, Mr Henry Innocent, the decision to support Mimiko was genuine, following his experience and capacity to transform the nation.
The group also seized the opportunity to charge President Buhari to address killings in the country as a matter of urgency as the blood of the innocent that is being shed is becoming outrageous.
The secretary general of the group, Alhaji Muhammad Akeem noted that the meeting held in Benin City was attended by leaders of several organisations within the southern part. He hinted that plans to begin strategic meetings ahead of the 2019 polls will commence in December.
