– A civil society group named the Anti-Corruption and Integrity Forum alleges that Senator Peter Nwaoboshi belongs to a secret society called First Trigger Boys (FTB)

– The forum claims the secret society group which the senator belongs to is responsible for the murder of motorcycle within Ibusa community between June and July, 2013

– The civil society group asks the Federal High Court siting in Asaba, Delta state, to nullify any certificate of return issued by INEC to Nwaoboshi

A civil society group has filed a court action at the Federal High Court siting in Asaba, Delta state, to disqualify Senator Peter Nwaoboshi from contesting for elective office in the National Assembly.

The group, the Anti-Corruption and Integrity Forum, has accused Nwaoboshi, who is the incumbent senator representing Delta north senatorial district at the National Assembly, of belonging to a secret society called First Trigger Boys (FTB), The Sun reports.

The organisation in the suit alleged that the alleged secret society group which the senator belonged to was responsible for the murder of motorcycle within Ibusa community between June and July, 2013.

With references to the section 66(1) and (g) of the 1999 constitution as amended, the Anti-Corruption and Integrity Forum asked for the court to ascertain whether Nwaoboshi is qualified to contest election because of his alleged link to the secret society.

The plaintiff asked the court to nullify any certificate of return issued by INEC to Nwaoboshi, and issue a fresh one to the candidate who came second by majority of lawful votes cast in the PDP Delta north senatorial district primary of October 2, 2018.

The group also pleaded for a court order directing Nwaoboshi to vacate the seat if he wins the 2019 election to pave way for his replacement by the candidate who came second in the PDP primary for the senatorial district.

Following the submission, the presiding judge, Justice Abang, adjourned the matter to February 5, 2019 for mention.

Meanwhile, the federal government has given more reasons why the immediate past chief justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen, was suspended.

The government said the decision to suspend Onnoghen was due to the ex-CJN’s abuse of judicial processes.

Tracknews.ng gathers that the government’s position was made known in Abuja by the minister of information and national orientation, Lai Mohammed on Monday, January 28.
