A group known as ‘Concerned People’s Democratic Party Members’ has urged the ongoing Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) South South governorship Screening panel led by the Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, to disqualify guber aspirant from Akwa Ibom State Pastor Umo Eno

In a petition signed by James Benson Expo and Kufre Shilling Paul respectively, dated April 27, 2022 and addressed to the Chairman of the committee, Governor Diri, the group stated that the Guber aspirant reached the electoral act law.

They recalled that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had earlier announced that any aspirants holding any political appointed office according to the laws of the electoral act should resign within 30 days before the primaries.

The group according to their letter accused Pastor Eno of allegedly breaching Section 84(12) And (13) of the Electoral Act, 2022 And Section 182(1)(G) of the 1999 Constitution of The Federal Republic of Nigeria as Amended.

They stated that Eno is still holding sway as a serving Director of Ibom FADAMA Microfinance Bank, an institution incorporated by the Akwa lbom state Government to access funds from the Federal Government through the central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) for Agricultural purposes.

“We respectfully write to you on the above-mentioned subject matter to bring to your notice the fact that Pastor Umo Bassey Eno one of the Aspirant for the office of Governor in Akwa Ibom State in the forthcoming Primary election of your great Party (PDP) is still a servingDirector of IBOM FADAMA MICROFINANCE BANK, an institution incorporated by the Akwa lbom state Government to access funds from the Federal Government through the CentralBank of Nigeria (CBN) for Agricultural purposes”. Part of the letter reads.

The group however request for the disqualification of Pastor Eno as one of the Akwa Ibom governorship aspirant who is said to be allegedly backed by Governor Udom Emmanuel as his successor before the gubernatorial primaries slated for May 21, 2022 to avoid the Akwa Ibom PDP being sanctioned by INEC to participate in the 2023 general elections in Nigeria.
