Gunmen hijack commercial vehicle, kidnap passengers in Rivers

Five passengers of a commercial vehicle have been kidnapped by unknown gunmen along the Emohua-Kalabari axis of the East West Road.

The incident is reported to have taken place on Saturday at about 8pm.

The vehicle which picked up passengers at the Choba junction, was intercepted by the hoodlums and taken to an unknown destination.

However, there are reports that the driver of the vehicle was released while the other passengers were yet to regain their freedom.

The Rivers State Police Command is yet to comment on the incident.

But the civil society organization in the state has condemned the continued attacks on road users
