Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports

Dr. Ahmad Hashim, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate in Zamfara State, has urged the state to reopen the skills acquisition programs that were previously closed for the development of youths in the state.

Hashim revealed this in an exclusive interview with reporters at the party’s State Secretariat in Gusau, pointing out that the majority of crimes in the state are committed by unemployed youths.

“It is very clear that these unemployed youths are perpetrating 90 percent of the crimes in the State, and the State government needs to do something about it,” he added.

He did, however, advise the state government to reopen skills acquisition centers across the state in order to reduce the state’s crime rate.

“Most of the people roaming the streets of the state are young people who should be in school but aren’t because they don’t have a means of support.”

“I want to remind the State government that I will be holding press briefings on a regular basis to make the State government sit up because we are also Zamfara State indigenes and are aware of these political impasses.”

“Go to the State Ministry of Women and Children Affairs here in Gusau, the State capital, and you will discover that nothing is happening; everything is like a graveyard, and orphans are begging for alms in every street.”

“Is that how we’re supposed to continue?” “If you go to the southern part of the country, you’ll find that more than 90% of the beggars are northerners, but we have a lot of ballooners in the north.”

Hashim advised the State government to look inward and address the numerous political impasses that have hampered the State’s economy and development.

“However, as opposition parties, we will continue to apply pressure until things return to normalcy, because this is kangaroo politics in a democratic setting.”
