Tuesday 6th, December 2022: The Champions’ Educational Foundation yesterday announced its second essay writing competition for all tertiary education students across the federation with a total cash prize of about ₦400,000 in scholarships and a year of mentorship for outstanding candidates.
The Board of Trustees announced through the Public Relations Officer, Ibrahim Olasunkanmi Qoseem that the writing competition kicks off from this date of announcement till the 31st of December, 2022.
“We will be examining a very disheartening and long-term problem of the nation: youth unemployment and underemployment, especially with an increasing number of higher degree holders. We hope to stimulate the art of critical thinking, literature search, and innovative analysis of the subject among students. We look forward to reading about factors responsible for this menace and possible ways out of it in a country like Nigeria,” said Dr. Abdulkareem Ahmed, Board Chairman and Founder of Champions Educational Foundation.
The competition is also an avenue for the foundation to harness workable ideas to proffer solutions to some of the issues of national importance.
The Champions Educational Foundation is a not-for-profit organization that is charged with promoting quality of education across all levels – primary, secondary, and tertiary education – through scholarship, fellowship, and partnership.
“Last year, we initiated this competition for undergraduates in Nigeria to extend our goal of improving literacy among children and youths to the vast young population in tertiary institutions, especially undergraduates, expose them to the art of doing academic research, and provide them an opportunity of horning their skills to write articles worthy of publication in journals of repute,” Abdulkareem further stressed the importance of the initiative.
Commenting about the maiden edition: “For the maiden edition last year, we reviewed socioeconomic problems in Nigeria and received very impressive submissions and recommendations,” he said.
The best three articles will be granted scholarships and the top ten participants will be inducted into a free one-year CEF fellowship program where they will undergo mentorship and leadership training focusing on community and nation-building.
