The Bayelsa State Commissioner of Health, Prof. Seiyefa Brisibe joined the Sen. Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, the deputy governor of the State with the States’ Primary Health Care Board, other partners and flagged off the Second Round of the 2025 National Immunization Plus Days (NIPDs) programme at Tein-Biseni.
Prof. Seiyefa Brisibe commended the State government for the choice of Biseni, a far rural location from Yenagoa the state’s capital, as the venue for the flag-off ceremony of the 2nd Round of the National Immunization Plus Days (NIPDs).
Professor Brisibe called on parents, health workers on parents, traditional rulers and other stakeholders to embrace the exercise seriously to justify the state government’s commitment and investment towards ensuring a zero case of polio in the state.
“This time around the commitment of the Bayelsa State government is beyond measurable so therefore much is expected of all the front line workers, supervisors, stakeholders, let us be vaccine accountable from day one, all commodities accountable, and starting by seven to seven” Prof. Brisibe stated.
The Commissioner who stated at his golden jubilee to continue to facilitate medical outreach annually through his humanitarian foundation in different communities called on the health workers, volunteers and reinstated State government’s immeasurable commitment to health care development.
He stated that last time, Bayelsa State came first in South South but this time he encouraged health care workers and assured that the state must be first in the country at this point in time because the government has done a lot.
Heartfelt messages were received from the Chairman of the Biseni Clan Council of Chiefs, Chief Williams Wariebi; the state Chairman of Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, Pastor Tam Seth Eyedoude; and a representative of the NPHCDA, Dr. Chris Elemuwa.
Others are the State Coordinator of World Health Organization, Dr Marcus Oluwadare; the Biseni Women President, Chief (Mrs.) Mariam Abusi, as well as the Governor-designate of Rotary Club 9141, Dr. Anthony Olikagu who presented 2000 aprons on behalf of Rotary to support the immunization programme.
