A high level interaction organized by the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the EU and the African Union, brings together Foreign and Budget Ministers to discuss a sustainable investment strategy for both Africa and Spain.

On Day 2, Hon. Minister for Budget and Economic Planning, H.E. Sen. Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, participated in a sectoral segment between African representatives and the private sector at the Headquarters of the Spanish Confederation of Business Organizations (CEOE) in Madrid.

The panel discussed EU-Africa Trade Agreements, Public-Private Partnerships, and economic challenges. Notable participants included representatives from the OECD, EU DG Trade, and Business Europe, with the session chaired by Spanish Secretary of State for Trade, Ms. Xiana Mendez.

The segment also featured five round-tables focusing on Industrial Development in Africa: Agri-Food and Textiles, Green Transition in Africa, Enhancing Connectivity and Mobility in Africa, Mobilizing Investments for Achieving Sustainable Development in Africa, and Regional Integration for Economic Growth in Africa.

Other attendees encompassed Mr. Antonio Garamendi (Representative CEOE); Mr. Armindo Monteiro (President of the Portuguese Business Organization – CIP); and Mr. Chakib Alj (President of the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises CGEM, Morocco).

Sen Bagudu has also engaged in individual meetings with private companies and Spanish government officials to foster beneficial partnerships and disseminate a more accurate image of the Nigerian Economy, with special attention to the opportunities it offers to potential investors.
