An electrician, simply identified as Sheni was, on January 1, electrocuted by a high-tension wire at UNILAG Estate, Magodo area of Lagos State.

The deceased was said to have been contracted by a resident of the estate to make some wiring connections on the electricity pole when the unexpected tragedy occured.

A resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, stated, “He was not a staff member of any electricity distribution company, and the wiring repairs were done without the involvement of the electricity distribution company.”

A team from the Anti-Crime Patrol at Isheri Division, fire service personnel, and the Lagos State Ambulance Services visited the scene. Sheni was reportedly confirmed dead after his body was brought down from the pole.

His body was subsequently taken to the mortuary, while efforts are ongoing to locate his relatives.
