In an official statement released by his Media and Communication Unit, Hon. Alapala described the appointment as well-deserved and a recognition of Elder Sobotie’s extensive experience and consistent commitment to national development. He noted that the new role is a testament to Sobotie’s dedication and capacity for leadership, particularly in matters of agricultural advancement and institutional growth.

Hon. Alapala emphasized that Elder Sobotie’s long-standing record of service and his strategic vision will contribute significantly to the progress and transformation of the Nigeria Institute for Oil Palm Research. He expressed full confidence in Sobotie’s ability to carry out the duties of his new position with diligence, responsibility, and impactful leadership.

According to the statement, the people of Burutu Constituency 1 and members of the APC family in Delta State join in celebrating the appointment. Hon. Alapala described the development as not only a personal achievement for Elder Sobotie, but also a proud moment for the Delta APC and the wider community.

He also used the opportunity to extend gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for considering Elder Sobotie for the national role. He praised the President’s leadership for recognizing the contributions of committed party members and for strengthening the party’s presence at both state and national levels.

The appointment of Elder Sobotie to the NIFOR board is seen as a significant step in aligning agricultural research leadership with individuals who have a strong background in governance and community service. Supporters of the appointment, including Hon. Alapala, believe that Sobotie’s leadership will bring about meaningful innovations and reforms in Nigeria’s oil palm research and agricultural sector.

Hon. Alapala reaffirmed his support for Sobotie and encouraged him to see the appointment as a call to higher national duty. He expressed optimism that the appointment would open more opportunities for collaboration between NIFOR and stakeholders from the Niger Delta and beyond, particularly in promoting agricultural sustainability and economic diversification.

The statement concluded with another round of congratulations to Elder Sobotie and renewed commitment from Hon. Alapala to support initiatives that enhance development and political inclusiveness in Delta State and across the country.
