Former Special Adviser to the Governor and erstwhile Chairman of Bayelsa Volunteers, Hon. Prince Douye Koroye, has extended his congratulations to the Governor of Bayelsa State, His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri, following his official resignation from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Governor Diri announced his resignation during a State Executive Council meeting, where he revealed that 19 members of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, including the Speaker and Deputy Speaker, as well as all commissioners, had also withdrawn their membership from the party.
In a statement issued in Yenagoa, Hon. Koroye described the Governor’s decision as a strategic and visionary step that will further strengthen Bayelsa State’s political alignment with the government at the centre. He commended the Governor for his boldness, foresight, and leadership, noting that the move demonstrates a clear understanding of the evolving national political dynamics.
“This courageous and well-timed decision will undoubtedly usher in a new political order in Bayelsa State and shape the direction of national politics as the 2027 general elections approach,” Hon. Koroye stated.
He further expressed optimism that the Governor’s action would open new opportunities for development, cooperation, and growth in the state.
Once again, congratulations, Your Excellency.
