Nigeria’s House of Representatives will begin an investigation into the deadly attack on an Abuja-Kaduna train by bandit terrorists.

Bandit terrorists had on Monday evening attacked a Kaduna bound train with explosives and gunfire, killing eight people, injuring many and abducting others.

During Tuesday’s plenary, Hon Nnaji Nnolim moved a motion of urgent public importance following the recent invasion of the Kaduna airport on Saturday and the attack on the train.

Contributing to the motion, Hon Aminu Suleiman condemned the train attack in its entirety, adding that the bandits have taken the killings to the sovereignty of the country, far beyond what Nigerians can comprehend.

He urged the House to ensure that the attacks do not happen again and the lawmakers should hold someone responsible for the attacks.

Another lawmaker, Hon Onofiok Luke asked the federal government to give more attention to the security of lives and properties and pay less mind to political activities in the country.

Adopting the motion, the Green Chamber resolved to probe the Kaduna train attack and the recent invasion of the Kaduna International Airport.

The lower chamber has also invited some government officials and asked them to appear before the leadership of the house and various relevant committees.

Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi; Minister of Defence, Bashir Magashi; Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika; National Security Adviser (NSA), Babagana Monguno; Chief of Air Staff, Isiaka Amao; Director-general, Department of State Service (DSS), Yusuf Bichi and Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Alkali Baba.

Others expected to appear before the lawmakers are the Director-General, Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority; Managing Director, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Managing Director, Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) and General Manager, Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC).
