While North Korea, Eritrea, Belarus, Syria, and Russia voted against rebuking the invasion, South Africa was among the 35 countries that abstained from voting. The countries in Africa that did not vote following the UN’s detesting of Russian invasion were Algeria, South Sedan, Mozambique, Mali, Uganda, South Africa, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Central Africa Republic, Burundi, Senegal, Angola, Congo, Tanzania, Madagascar, Equatorial Guinea, and Sudan.

The only African country that voted against the UN resolution was Eritrea, while Uganda took a stance of voting for neutrality as the Non-aligned Movement (NAM) incoming chair.
