Sani Abdullahi Dabai, Brig. Gen. Maharazu Tsiga (Bardan Kudun Katsina), Shehu Dabai, Nasiru Bawale, and Barr. Aliyu Ahmed Danja have defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to the Peoples Democratic Party, along with thousands of their supporters in Katsina State (PDP).
According to Track News Nigeria , the decampees have promised to support Senator Garba Yakubu Lado, the PDP’s governorship candidate in Katsina State for the 2023 election.
At the event on Sunday, Katsina State PDP Party Chairman, Salisu Yusuf Majigiri (Garkuwan Gabas Katsina), charged the decampees to work for the party’s unity and success in 2023.
Senator Lado, the event’s special guest, welcomed the decampees and assured them of equal opportunities.
This is bad news for Nigeria’s president, Muhammadu Buhari, who is from Katsina State and a member of the APC. Although Buhari’s term is limited, his party still requires a united house in order to gain votes in the North for its presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
