Dr. Don Pedro Obaseki, a former Presidential Consultant on Media to the Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has revealed how the Governor and Deputy Governor of do State, Godwin Obaseki and Philip Shaibu respectively, dumped the All Progressive Congress (APC); but maintained that he did not know what agreement was between the two Edo bigwigs, when he was asked what the Governor promised his Deputy as recompense for fighting Adams Oshiomhole.
Don Pedro Obaseki had said, “I don’t know what had transpired the sanctuary of their locked doors.”
The PDP Chieftain, who spoke during an interview on Arise Television, maintained that even though he does not know what agreement was between Obaseki and Shaibu, he could recall how the Edo Governor fought to ensure that Shaibu became his Deputy. He revealed that he led the team that ensured that Obaseki and Shaibu defected from the APC to the PDP. He revealed that when Obaseki was offered the gubernatorial ticket of the PDP, there was a demand from the leadership of the party that he would not choose his running mate, which the Governor turned down because he wanted Shaibu as his Deputy. He said Obaseki fought to ensure that Shaibu became his Deputy.
Don Pedro expressed surprise that the Governor and his Deputy could be holding grudges against each other. When asked what Obaseki promised Shaibu as recompense for fighting Oshiomhole, the PDP bigwig said he does not know.
